What we explore
Sustainable tourism
Experiences that connect visitors with place, local communities, culture, nature and responsible travel.
Sustainable tourism is an easy phrase to hide inside. Common Ground uses it narrowly. A visit should connect a person with a place, with the people who know it, with its culture and its limits. If the visit only extracts a view, it is not the work.
This is experience design as a question. Who is the visit for. What does the place have to absorb. What does a guest leave knowing how to do, not only how to photograph. The experiment on this sits under sustainable experience design.
Commune experiences, where they are open, are curated. They are not a hotel calendar. Availability, stay rules and fees are confirmed with the team. This site will not invent a season to look complete.
Travel, in the journal and in the network, is also a way independent spaces meet. Someone from one farm spends time in another. The learning moves with the person. That is closer to the aim than a brochure of destinations.
In practice
- Visits tied to learning, not only leisure
- Local culture as living practice, not entertainment
- Limits of a place stated before a guest arrives
- No published dates until the team confirms them
Related experiment and experiences sit one step away. If you want to try something, write. If you want to understand it first, keep reading.
